About this event

In affiliation with the Visiting Professorship Program at the Dalhousie Medical School, the Indigenous Health Interest Group (IHIG) brought Dr. Nadine Caron to deliver a keynote to community members, health providers, and students in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Dr. Nadine Caron is the first female Indigenous surgeon in Canada, and spoke to her experiences in medicine and research. Dr. Caron then engaged with Dr. Margot Latimer and John Sylliboy who presented their research on clinical practice guidelines for health professionals working with Indigenous peoples. Dr. Latimer and John Sylliboy represented the Aboriginal Children’s Hurt and Healing Initiative, who also showcased their art installation: Art from the Heart. A poster display concluded the evening.
