Truth and Reconciliation Cafe

  • Council Chambers, 2nd Floor, Student Union Building 6136 University Avenue Halifax, NS, B3H 4J2 Canada (map)

What is the meaning of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s “Calls to Action”?
Released in 2015, they have been long debated, but rarely incorporated into our lives.

Yet we cannot ignore the cry of the over six thousand voices the Commission heard, what those voices represent, and the cultural genocide embedded in this Nation called Canada.

How can we seek reconciliation and truth? What do these words mean?

This presentation and discussion style Café provides the space for dialogue and questions such as:
What can Dalhousie do as an institution, and what can I do as an individual –
to heal, learn and build a just society and community?
What are my responsibilities and how can I carry them out?

We are honoured to open this Café with three speakers from the Mi’kmaw community.

This is an open event, welcoming all. Light refreshments will be served.

This event is a collaborative effort of Dalhousie’s Nova Scotia Public Interest Research Group (NSPIRG) and The Red Bear Healing Home Society.
